Hello Freon. Thank you so much for my scumbag sun!! The new time limits on collectibles makes collecting exciting but hard to get all 8 in a week. Thanks again! Have a great week!

Evenin' Carol, Beef tri-tip. It's a Central Coast invention, actually. Season it with a dry rub and cook it over oak coals. For the sandwiches we thin slice it and for dinners we slice it about 1/2" thick. Usually the only thing anyone will put on them is salsa but I'm thinking that some grilled onions mixed in with the sandwich meat might make them even better. Oh, did I mention the bread is dipped in molten garlic butter? Hungry? :-) We also did chicken for the dinner. Same prep method but once they are mostly done we take a large (military mess kitchen surplus) and put down some crushed garlic, bay leaves and then about 3/8" of white wine. Then we put in a rack and when the chicken comes off of the grill it goes into the pot on the rack (to keep it out of the wine) and then back onto a cool spot on the grill to steam. How 'bout now? >We do this every year at the Santa Lucia Rockhounds' show and sale. They have members set up in the Pioneer museum doing demos (grinding, polishing, faceting, shaping {ever see a machine for making stone spheres?}, knapping etc.) and vendors in Pioneer Park selling books, jewelry, stones, gems, supplies etc. So, we make sandwiches, hotdogs and hamburgers for lunch for two days and we prepare dinner for the SLR members, vendors and guests. We usually make around $600 for the weekend. >I used to have a much more diverse population of birds around here but a foreign dove has moved in and driven many of them away. It's time for the doves to start...ummm...leaving. I want my mourning doves back :-( >SLO - San Luis Obispo, I lived there for 20 years. It's a very pretty and hospitable town but because it is close to the ocean, there are no seasons to speak of. Same thing where I grew up; the Southern California climate was just too mild. We have heat and rain and that's about it. Now I live just north of Paso Robles and it is far enough from the ocean that we see the changing of the seasons. >The briefcase is on its way. A bit of a clearing house, a bit of; "With God as my witness, there will never be another Great Turkey Famine." The whole fiasco with the PIU and LOLrus sets was a bit out of my control but I did my best to play Joseph. If you ever need anything I, or SilentWing (We work together), have, just ask. > Well, I need to go feed the stock. Have a great evening. -James

Ohai, Carol :) You're very welcome :) Here it's still winter and the spring will start next week officially but today we had a very hot day, looking like the summer :( Anyway, now the wings returned and it's more like autumn so, much better than the morning and afternoon :) Wish you, Freon and Jack have an amazing new week!! =^.^= Kthxbai

Hi You may be a software grunt but im a plain old grunt.LOL. Yes ive been at the same Hospital 40 years. I was born there too. I tell everyone if I drop dead to put me outside. I can see my obit now born, worked, died. Its very interesting. Started out doing secretarial work in the Path Lab. They closed down a department and the two of us (yup thats all two )now assist the Pathologists in the gross room. Lots of little things to do. We alternate days - one upstairs and one downstairs. If one is off we do both jobs. Trying to think of a fun job if and when I can ever retire. Its nice your mom lives with you. Cherish every moment because when shes gone shes gone forever. Someone told me that years ago and it helped me get through the crazy parts. Take care my friend. Enjoy the weekend. Kitty hugs. Sandy

Hi Carol, Happy Friday to you too. That's funny, I have been making the same observation here. Trees are turning and the nights have gotten chilly. We just broke a long hot streak (the only one we had all summer) and the highs now are pretty decent (80s and 90s). I have come to enjoy Fall too. It wasn't so great down south as a kid or in SLO, but where I live now we actually have seasons. I read the other day that there was an early snowfall in Colorado too. >It's been a good week, but a busy one; got back from the NSGW BoD meeting and had two local NSGW and a Grange meeting. This weekend we've got a two day BBQ fundraiser plus it's time to do the BCHC newsletter again. >Big plans, or is it a book/fireplace weekend? - James

I know how hard it is to loose family. I lost my grandmother, 7 months later my dad and less than three years later my mom. I remember saying to my daughter "what do i do now". I have a few scattered relatives that really dont give a hoot so other than my daughter that was it. We also lost four kitties in that time span(before, during and after). Enough sadness. One day at a time.Your job sounds really impressive. I just know the basics. If I have a question the Hospital has computer peeps that are wonderful. Ive been doing my job for 40 years so I must be doing something right. Baby boomers stik with it. Kitty hugs Sandy

Hi Carol, Hard to say about the turn out; it was my first. There were maybe 100 people there. Gold Country is quite a bit different than the high Sierras. In Tahoe etc. it is all pine forests and deep snow drifts etc. In GC you are on the edge of grasslands that stretch down to the edge of the great Central Valley and you are in a mix of hardwood and pine forests. More rolling hills than towering peaks. >In the Sierras I have seen Tstorms blow up and blow out in a very short time and I have seen them hang around from mid-afternoon until late into the night. The weirdest one was at Scepter Lake ( 37.030723°, -118.836178° )one day. We had T&L and rain for an hour or so and then T&L and snow until late that night. My horses were none too happy about the turn of events. >Glad to hear your feeling more chipper. -James
