After all these years, I still love LEGO sets and I still love the MCU - So this new LEGO Avengers: Endgame diorama should be right up my alley, but… I don't love it. I don't hate it either, but something about it just feels empty.
The diorama recreates the legendary final battle where every Marvel hero (yes, even Howard the Duck for a split second) assembles to take on Thanos. Specifically, it focuses on the moment when the heroes arrive through the portals—a fantastic idea for a LEGO set. But beyond the characters and portals, there's not much else. Sure, it includes the iconic Avengers "A" from the destroyed Stark Tower, but compared to past sets like the Spider-Man: No Way Home final battle (which had the Statue of Liberty's head to pose characters around) or the Captain America: Civil War airport showdown, this one feels a little barren.
The diorama launches on May 1, 2025, for $99.99, containing 621 pieces, nine minifigures, and a Thanos bigfig. The minifigures include Captain America (with his damaged shield), Iron Man MK85, a Chitauri, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Iron Spider, Black Panther, and Falcon. The set is designed to be modular, allowing you to split it into smaller scenes or connect them into one big display. It features five full-sized portals made by Doctor Strange and the sorcerers, three smaller portals, an Ant-Man mech, and part of the ruined Avengers headquarters, along with some interactive play features.
Look, it's cool. But for a moment as massive as this—the biggest moment in the entire MCU—I really wish LEGO had done more to make it feel as grand as it deserves.
