Last week I was griping about how let down I felt by the latest LEGO Avengers: Endgame set, but this week my faith in LEGO is restored with the newly revealed Lord of the Rings set celebrating Bilbo Baggins's legendary 111th birthday. And let me tell you—this set is absolutely gorgeous, and yes, I needs it!
The new LEGO Icons 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire set brings Hobbiton to life in incredible detail, and it's shaping up to be one of the best Lord of the Rings sets yet (It's no Rivendell or Barad-dûr but still…). We've got a beautifully recreated Bag End (the iconic hobbit-hole home), complete with Gandalf and multiple Hobbit minifigures. While the full interior hasn't been unveiled just yet, the exterior alone has me ready to journey to the nearest LEGO store.
The set also includes iconic scenes from Bilbo's farewell party—there's a party tent, a stage, and even Gandalf's horse-drawn cart (which longtime fans might recognize from the earlier 2012 set). A special designer signing event with Kenyon Andrew Brady is scheduled for April 5 at LEGO's Leicester Square store, hinting that an official full reveal—and release—is just around the corner.
LEGO, you've officially redeemed yourself, I just wish you published a better quality picture of the set because this one looks like it was rendered on a po-ta-toe. The Shire awaits!
