Okay, PlayStation just dropped the May lineup for PS Plus, and it is doing the absolute most. We've got dino-wrangling chaos, strategic card slinging, and a Warhammer-flavored pixel bloodbath that speaks directly to my old-school FPS heart. Starting May 6, PS Plus members can grab Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. It's a wild buffet of genres, and I'm not mad about it.
Let's start with Balatro. Everyone and their video game podcast has been raving about this poker-inspired roguelike deck builder. Not gonna lie, it's not usually my thing. But the hype has officially gotten to me, and I will now be dedicating a chunk of my life to playing illegal poker hands and praying to the Joker gods.
Then there's Ark: Survival Ascended. It's basically "Jurassic Park meets Minecraft but make it Unreal Engine 5." Tame dinosaurs, build stuff, survive, and shout "I NEED MORE FIBER" at your screen until your tribe mates help you. Gorgeous visuals, huge worlds, and full-on multiplayer chaos. It's a vibe.
But the one I'm most excited about? Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. This is pure boomer shooter bliss. I'm talking pixels, blood, heretics, and that chunky, satisfying click of a Space Marine weapon. Load up, purge some chaos, and relive the glory days of FPS before cover systems existed.
You can download all three from May 6 to June 2. In the meantime, you've got until May 5 to grab April's titles (RoboCop, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story). Don't say I didn't warn you.
