Spider-Man may have superhuman reflexes, but unfortunately, Tom Holland is still very much human.
According to multiple reports, Holland suffered a mild concussion while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day on set in the U.K. this past Friday. Insiders say he's expected to make a full recovery and will be taking a short break from production. No other cast or crew members were injured.
Sony is reportedly meeting on Monday to figure out how to proceed with filming while Holland rests.
This isn't just any Spidey flick - Brand New Day is the biggest movie currently in Sony's pipeline, and arguably the most crucial Marvel Studios co-production leading up to Avengers: Doomsday in 2026. Following the box office juggernaut that was No Way Home ($1.91 billion), expectations are skyscraper high.
The movie is a tonal and creative shift, too - this time directed by Shang-Chi's Destin Daniel Cretton, and featuring a loaded cast that includes Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Jon Bernthal's Punisher, returning regulars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, and new additions Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Tramell Tillman (Severance). Oh, and Michael Mando is back as The Scorpion, finally getting some overdue screentime.
As for the injury - it's a good reminder that even friendly neighborhood Spider-Men need a break sometimes.
Wishing Tom a speedy recovery - the multiverse can wait a few days.
