Sometimes the gaming gods smile upon us, and sometimes they drop a whole Warhammer game on our laps for the low low price of absolutely nothing. Vermintide 2, the co-op cult favorite that basically said what if Left 4 Dead but with angry rat men and medieval PTSD, is free to keep on Steam until November 24. As in free-free. As in once it's in your library, it's yours forever, no subscription fees, no "but actually" fine print. Just pure hack and slash chaos.
Released back in 2018, Vermintide 2 has somehow aged like fine Dwarven ale. It already had the bones of something great, but years of updates, new modes, and DLC classes have turned it into a whole feast of content. You pick one of the Ubersreik 5, each with multiple classes that completely flip how they play, and then you and up to three friends run around the End Times slicing through Skaven, Chaos monsters, and whatever other nightmares Games Workshop dug out of its lore vault.
It's got the vibes of Left 4 Dead, the personality of a fever dream, and the pacing of a very stressful cardio workout. There are randomized spawns, big bosses, roving specials that ruin your day, and enough replayability that you could blink and accidentally lose 60 hours. They even tossed in a PVP mode and a roguelike mode, because why stop at one kind of pain.
If you're into co-op chaos, Warhammer weirdness, or just collecting free games like a digital dragon hoarding treasure, this is a no-brainer. Grab it before November 24 at 10 am PT, boot it up, and prepare to yell at your friends when a rat ogre punts you into a wall.
