It's total chaos in Ukraine right now, we've all seen it on our phones, TVs, and heard about it on the radio. The starkly negative news cycles have left the whole world feeling a bit…down, among other things. We here at ICanHasCheezburger feel for the people in the thick of this difficult situation, and we also worry about the animals! A group of heroic zoo staff has actually moved into the Kyiv Zoo in an effort to care for the animals' physical and mental well-being during this tumultuous time. Not all heroes wear capes, some are staff members of the Kyiv Zoo.
"A zoo in Kyiv has some new residents, a species it's never housed before: humans. About 30 people have moved into the zoo in the capital city of Ukraine, which is being threatened by invading Russian forces. At night they sleep in a shelter on the property. The zoo staff and their families have created what they call a zoo military commune to protect the animals and care for their physical and mental well-being." Via Inside Edition.
