YES!!! THIS!!! THIS IS WHAT I WANT!!! Thank you, Netflix, for giving me exactly what I never knew I needed - K-pop meets demon slaying with Spider-Verse-level animation and a Buffy attitude. A new animated movie called KPop Demon Hunters just dropped its first trailer and I am completely, hopelessly in love. With the concept. With the art. With the music. With the vibe. Am I speaking too fast? I feel like I'm speaking too fast. OK - deep breath. Here's the info while I try to act normal:
Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, KPop Demon Hunters follows Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, a stadium-slaying K-pop girl group by day - and literal demon slayers by night.
Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo lead the voice cast, with Ahn Hyo Seop making his English voice acting debut as Jinu. The cast also features Lee Byung Hun, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, Joel Kim Booster, Yunjin Kim, and Liza Koshy. Oh—and TWICE's Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung contributed a brand new original song, "TAKEDOWN," which you'll hear in the trailer (and, let's be real, probably all summer long).
The trailer? Perfection.
It's Buffy meets Spider-Verse meets Arcane meets TMNT meets literally every expectation I've ever had.
Flashy fight scenes? Check. Killer choreography? Check. A demonic rival boy band with evil eyeliner? Oh you know it's in there.
June 20 can't get here fast enough.
Let's goooo, Demon Hunters!!
