I've been lucky enough to play both of the previous Star Wars VR titles - Vader Immortal and Tales from the Galaxy's Edge - and I loved them. What I really appreciate is that each one feels like its own experiment. Vader Immortal was all about lightsabers and story, Galaxy's Edge leaned into exploration and action, and now the next project is heading in a completely new direction: mixed reality podracing. Yes, you read that right - podracing, in your living room.
The new game is called Star Wars: Beyond Victory - A Mixed Reality Playset, and it drops October 7 exclusively for Meta Quest 3 and 3S. It's split into three modes: Adventure Mode, where you play as a rookie podracer mentored by none other than Sebulba (questionable life choice, but sure); Arcade Mode, which lets you just straight-up race pods in mixed reality; and Playset Mode, where you collect and display Star Wars goodies like a digital toy shelf.
The whole thing feels like a mashup of VR storytelling, arcade racing, and dumping your Matchbox cars all over the floor when you were a kid - except this time, it's Star Wars. It even features voices from Greg Proops, Lewis MacLeod, and Bobby Moynihan.
If you've ever dreamed of podracing down your hallway and then putting your trophies on a shelf next to your virtual R2 unit, this might just be the closest we've ever gotten.
