Every year for at least the past 15 years, I've done a full Lord of the Rings extended edition marathon. And now, for the first time ever, I'll be adding a flipbook version to that lineup.
Andy Bailey of Andymation is attempting the impossible: he's making The Fellowship of the Ring into what he calls "The Flipbook of the Rings." That's right - 120,000 hand-drawn images recreating Peter Jackson's masterpiece. If Frodo thought carrying the Ring to Mordor was tough, try flipping through that many drawings.
Here's the best part: just like Frodo needed Sam, Andy is asking for help. Over 1,000 artists and fans have already joined the project, and you can too. Scenes are being claimed fast, but new ones keep opening up. And yes, Peter Jackson himself knows about it and is fully on board. Imagine drawing a one of those flipbooks knowing PJ might one day flip through it - that's fandom immortality right there.
So grab your pencils, channel your inner Gimli ("And my pencil!"), and be a part of this one-of-a-kind journey through Middle-earth. I'll definitely be watching it when it's done - right after my annual extended edition marathon, of course.
