Stargate fans, dust off your ZPMs because the gate is dialing again. After fourteen very long, very quiet years, Amazon has officially confirmed a brand new Stargate series and the best part is that it's not a reboot, not a remake, and not a gritty reimagining where everyone whispers in a dark room. It's a continuation. A real next chapter. A return to the universe that gave us Kurt Russell in desert camo, James Spader doing linguistics as if the fate of the galaxy depended on it, and Richard Dean Anderson casually saving planets between cups of coffee.
This announcement isn't coming from strangers or execs who skimmed the Stargate Wiki for ten minutes. The new show is being shepherded by Martin Gero, a guy who started his career inside the actual Stargate franchise. He lived it. He breathed it. He probably knows the dialing sequence by heart. He's bringing along heavy hitters like Dean Devlin, Roland Emmerich, Brad Wright, and Joe Mallozzi in consulting roles which basically means the franchise DNA is all over this thing in the best possible way.
We don't have footage yet. No teaser, no cast, no fancy Stargate spinning up in dramatic slow motion. What we do have is even better: a wholesome, genuinely excited video of the creators telling fans what's coming. No hype machine, no forced nostalgia, just people who love Stargate talking about how happy they are to be making Stargate again. It feels personal, it feels right, and it feels like the franchise is finally in good hands.
The gate is open again. Let's go.
