2026 has just started, but some habits from the past will forever follow us.
In some ways, it feels like 2020 was yesterday. It is a time that we don't think any of us are going to forget in our lifetimes. That is a period of time that we are going to talk to our great-grandkids about. And it has changed things in the world - not just for us but for everyone. For the better and for the worse. But today, we are going to focus on the better. One of the things that 2020 brought with it is working from home with our cats.
We found out, back then, that it is just as weird for our cats as it is for us to be at home all the time. We always wonder what our cats do when we're not home, and although we didn't find that out, we did find out that our cats need their space to do shenanigans just as much as we do. And of course, Zoom calls. That has become something that is inseparable from our daily lives - it started then, and it's going strong to this day.
Some people may like Zoom calls, some may not, but one thing is for sure, our cats love Zoom calls. We think the part that they enjoyed the most while we were working from home was breaking into our Zoom calls and becoming the center of attention. And the center of attention they were. The second a cat is on screen, no one can look away. No one can think about anything else. Introductions begin, everyone smiles, the day just turns… a little brighter, really.
We loved it. It was one of our favorite things too. It doesn' matter what our cats were doing before said Zoom call started, the second the heard it go off, they were right there, in our faces, turning the whole thing about themselves. We loved it, our cats loved it, but some people couldn't quite figure it out. And as a little throwback, we decided to remind you of this iconic moment from 2020, when a judge accidentally logged onto a Zoom call with a cat filter on and did not know what to do. The filter was stuck, the meeting was hilarious, it went viral faster than we have seen many things go viral at the time, and it still makes us laugh to this day. And it will make you all laugh too, that's a promise.
