Turning a Trampoline into a Pool Goes Viral and for Once, This TikToker Isn't Very Happy About It

As the days get longer and summer gets hotter, it’s hard not to dream of the sweet relief of a crisp, refreshing swimming pool. Most of us imagine the Playboy grotto or some resort when we think of the ideal pool, but not everyone has the luxury of having built-in wonders in their backyard.

PaintAtYourOwnRisk, aka Rissa, a small business owner on TikTok, took on a hefty side project over Memorial Day Weekend to escape the heat. Although she is primarily known on her page for her paint and sip classes and kits, Rissa documented her family’s process in turning an old, broken trampoline into an above-ground swimming pool.

Yes, you read that correctly, a trampoline.

At the start of the project, it looks like Rissa simply just wants to get her hands dirty and keep busy, however, layers and layers of saran wrap into the project, the trampoline/pool endeavor seems to have gotten a little overwhelming.

After draping an exceedingly large tarp over the frame of plastic wrap and metal bars, Rissa applies another 400 layers of plastic to keep the shape of the pool (and to keep the water inside where it belongs).

Days went by and with that, the virality of this insane project took flight. Hundreds of thousands of onlookers questioned and besieged Rissa, begging for pool updates and more pool content. Now, Rissa’s TikTok isn’t a DIY page by any means. She typically uses her site to promote her business, her family, and current projects. Since the pool project took off, it seemed that that’s all anyone cared about anymore.

After weeks of begging, Rissa graced the internet with two more pool update videos, each showing the next stages of pool production including finishing the lining, filling the pool, and attempting to install some kind of filtration system.

Part 3

Honestly, it looks pretty good.

Exhausted and clearly quite over this side project, Rissa released a final farewell to the pool. Daunted by building an oasis of her own and clearly weary of the onslaught of accidental fame, she issued a final statement that the pool was simply a project for her family and that she had no intention of taking it as far as they did. From now on, Rissa will use her TikTok for business promotion only– no more pool talk!

Last and Final Update

However, she did successfully build her own pool and to that, we salute you Rissa! The world certainly had their doubts about the plausibility of building a trampoline/pool, but you showed us that sometimes, all it takes, is a vision, a little elbow grease, and 2 miles of plastic wrap to make our summer dreams a reality.
