TikToker Leak Kennel works at a high quality sushi restaurant. As anybody who has worked in the service industry is familiar with, when you work at a restaurant you tend to become very close with your coworkers. The job is high demanding emotionally and physically, having to deal with unhappy customers or just too happy customers when you're not happy and then being on your feet for hours. So when you are late to a shift or go missing in the middle of a shift, it's usually your coworkers who instantly start to wonder where you are. In fact, if you take too long of a break, you're probably going to hear an earful.
Leah has this sort of relationship with her coworkers, or at least she thought she did until recent events. Almost a week ago Leah had been working a 12-hour shift and was really running on low. To take a break from the front of house she decided to do a quick restock in the back. When she went into the back, however, the door slammed behind her and the door knob instantly broke. The cement stock room had zero data and zero wife, so her only hope was for someone to find her.
She figured this would take 20minutes tops before someone found her. However, over an over later and still nobody. She sat there just waiting and really losing her will to live. When her manager finally found her, she was so ready to go home. Her managers said they noticed she was having a rough day, so they thought they'd give her some space… When they found her they felt bad that nobody had noticed she was gone, so one of the managers gave her a little chocolate cake as an apology.
She even found out after she got out that she probably could've turned the lock and pulled and gotten out, but she was just so brain dead after working 12 hours that it just didn't cross her mind. Ooooh working in the service industry! 💕
Stuck pt. 1
“WTF… I'm already having the worst day at work, like I'm literally already crying. But I said, ‘okay, I’ll go do restock because I can be alone and cry or whatever. And there is no data or wifi in this room, right? And I just walked in and look *shows broken door handle* The door handle broke! Like literally, I can't get out… God really said, ‘lemme just make your day a little worse.’ So I can't call for help, let's see how long it takes
… It has no been 20 minutes. I did my restock. And now we wait."
… It's now been 30 minutes. I found a chocolate fish.
… It's been 50 minutes. I'm offended at this point!"
Stuck pt. 2
“It's been an hour and 20 minutes… This is so rude. What if I fell and stabbed myself? Or hit my head?? I should've been done [waiting] max 20 minutes. It's been an hour and 20 minutes. I'm PISSED.”
Update
“Alright. This has gotten a little out of hand… Yes, I did get out an hour and a half after I got stuck in there. Like a lot of you said, I came up and my boss said ‘why didn’t you just turn the lock and pull?' And honestly, I had been at work for 12 hours and my will to live was pretty low. So I just kind of gave up. Thank you all for being so concerned… Eventually one of my managers found me and asked if I was okay. And then my other manager, she felt really bad, she said, ‘oh yeah, we could tell you were having a rough day, so we just wanted to give you some space.’ But she felt bad, so she gave me a little chocolate cake… But ummm… Thank you for the concern. I did not, in fact, die. So that's the takeaway.”
