Englishman's Bay is a beach located on the island of Tobago, which sits in a huddle of tiny islands north of South America. Tobago is part of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and is home to only 60,000 residents. The tiny island is everything a city is not, and proof of this is its abundance of deserted beaches.
One such place is Englishman's Bay, a crescent-shaped beach nestled between the tropical rainforest and the Caribbean Sea. Voted multiple times as one of the top 10 Caribbean beaches, Englishman's Bay is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing - and it happens to be a nesting ground for leatherback turtles. Part of the beach is covered with shade from the trees, providing the perfect refuge from the hot sun.

Englishman's Bay can be reached by car and a few minutes of walking. Located north of Castara, where Castara Bay draws most of the beach-bound tourists, Englishman's Bay is about 3 km (1.8 miles) along Northside Road. Once you've driven 3 km north of Castara, look out for a blue and white sign opposite a WASA building and turn left onto a gravel track. This leads to the beach's small car park. From here, there's a small trail that leads through the forest and onto the sand.
Although Englishman's Bay isn't far from the busier Castara Bay, most tourists will opt for the more accessible beach, leaving Englishman's Bay practically empty. That said, there are likely to be a few local fishermen, as well as a tiny hut selling food and one toilet stall each for men and women at Englishmen Bay, so don't throw off your swimsuit in an act of freedom because you won't be totally alone.

Once you make it to Englishman's Bay, it's worth spending the whole day there. With golden sand and clear turquoise waters typical of the Caribbean, Englishman's Bay is as perfect as secluded beaches come. Bring a snorkel and explore the worlds beneath the water's surface, and when you're on land, enjoy the sun or shade on the sand. According to all the testimonials on Trip Advisor, it's worth staying there as long as possible. Honestly, I wouldn't mind staying there forever.
