Everybody who works for somebody else wants to know the golden secret for how to get a promotion or raise quickly. There are a lot of different tactics. Some people try to work as hard as they can and hope to get noticed by their boss. Some people try to begin managing people on their team to seem like they deserve a leadership position. Some people make it super obvious that they are a wanted commodity based on their skill set and try to often reiterate to their boss that they chose this job over many many options.
At the end of the day, there probably isn't one best method… Right? Bosses come in all different shapes and forms, and also some companies simply have strict rules about promotions and raises. But wouldn't it be nice if there was a foolproof way to get that role change? Well, according to one TikToker, there is. Let's take a look at his advice.
So let's go over this unusual advice. Rather than giving your position, your all @everydayalex believes the best thing you can do for yourself is the absolute bare minimum. He literally recommends doing, “Just enough to not get fired.” But that probably makes everyone think to themselves, “Are these really the qualities that will cause my boss to promote me? Mailing it in?” But Alex clarifies that this is just the first step, after a bit of time, 6ish months or so, then the switch up needs to take place.
Basically, the tactic is to set up low expectations and then very much exceed them. Kind of like when you used to tell your parents you were about to fail a test and then come home with a barely passing grade and suddenly notice how proud they are of you.
Something Alex does clarify in the caption is that this advice really only works for guys. So somebody asked him to share what he thinks would work for women and he made a response.
At first, this video seems to be giving really similar advice to the first, but then Alex makes sure to add one slightly different plotline. Tell your boss you can't have kids. A bit dramatic, but it may just work. As somebody said in the comment section: Ask not what you can do for misogyny, but what misogyny can do for you.
