As a kid, we all played The Floor is Lava. Obviously. Whether or not we terrorized our parents, broke priceless heirlooms in the house, or snapped a femur in the process was entirely up to how seriously you approached the game.
Belen P, aka @thatonecraftybish on TikTok, was asked by her five year old nephew to put on a birthday party according to this game, making every element of the day themed and decorated. She said yes, which makes for a crazy series of how-to videos and making every other aunt in the world feel entirely inadequate.
It’s his 5th birthday and auntie is going all out
This is just the beginning
This woman seriously made a 6ft volcano out of expanding foam. Mind blown. Now, Belan started her crafting process weeks in advance to the party, starting first with the outdoor elements, such as the volcano, and working swiftly to create jumping paddocks to which the children, when playing the floor is lava, can remain untouched by the ground beneath them.
Sounds fun doesn’t it?
Now let’s make some decorations that they can jump on
I wondered at first why she was using foam for the decorations, then I remembered the aforementioned broken femur that some kids probably have gotten from playing, and failing at, this game. Giving the kids a safe play option had to be a priority, this isn’t Squid Game.
More decorations to jump on
At this point for Belan, there’s no turning back. She was launched into a project that seemly had no end to the possibilities. Belan, being the thoughtful crafty bish we all know and love, even went the extra extra mile to have themed wrapping paper.
Brown paper bag wrapping but make it cute
That’s dedication.
Now that everyone feels like the worst aunt or uncle in the world, just know that Belan is not finished with her decorations and is STILL gearing up for this party. When the children will finally squeal and jump around in the yard? We may never know. But until then, Belan is creating the obstacle course of a lifetime that all the adults are already a little jealous of.
