Every culture's cuisine has one enduring thing in common. You must accept that you will never make it as well as your grandma did. With that out of the way, cooking becomes a game of how much you're willing to make your house smell like garlic in order to impress your uncle. Trying to compare every cultural cuisine on the same scale is like comparing apples and oranges, particularly because, well, they're literally different foods. Live in any environment long enough and it becomes clear that your family's Sunday dinner might have an absolutely shocking amount of onions compared to your neighbors next door. Not only can cultures collide over something as basic as what lemonade is, but different places even have varied understandings of how one should measure space and time. So deal with the dal, love the lime and accept the aspic. We all bring something different to the table.
