Women are always getting judged and objectified for how they dress. At school, in the office, on the street, at the gym. Really this list could go on for days. But the one place we should supposedly be safe is in our homes, right? Apparently wrong. A 17-year-old girl got scolded by her mother for wearing pyjamas that were too 'showy' when her little brother had friends over for a sleepover. Unless she had it all hanging out in some see-through lingerie set (which I highly doubt), this story just reaks of internalized misogyny.
On Reddit's 'Am I The A-hole' page, this teen wants to know if she is the A-hole for not wearing modest pyjamas in her own home.
Even the title is off-putting for this post. It's pajamas! Are we expected to care about how we look in pajama's now? It should be the one outfit that doesn't get judged, they're just for ourselves. But apparently, that's not enough.
So this teen has a 14-year-old brother who had friends over for a sleepover, which took place in the living room. Well, the living room is a common space, so it is expected that eventually, she will have to come down at some point to grab something, right?
