Tumblr Thread: The 4 Foot Tall Red-Bearded Vulture

Guys, get ready to be scared and impressed all at the same time. We're about to give some love to yet another insanely underappreciated animal, but we're going to do it from the safety of our homes, because this bloody bird is a little terrifying. Meet the 4 foot tall red-bearded vulture. 

We know that birds are clawsome at this point, don't even lie. Parrots can impersonate different accents and be jerks to other pets. Crows sometimes collect gifts and bring them to people. And the red-bearded vulture? Well, the red-bearded vulture eats a diet of bones and covers itself in blood for a reason which, even after we read, we can't really comprehend. It's a cool bird though, and we always love learning more about the animal kingdom, even when it scares us a bit.

    It is honestly amazing how no matter how much time we spend looking at animal content, there are always more and more new animals to come across. We have never seen this incredible animal, and to be honest, we are not sure that we would want to see it anywhere outside pictures, but! It's pretty dang cool.

    We are thankful for the gifs in this awesome tumblr thread, because for a second, when we first came across this post, we thought that the pictures were fake. Seeing these birds move in their natural habitats, doing their weird blood coat thing, is absolutely lit.

The bearded vulture, or lammergeier, lives on a steady diet of bones (more specifically the marrow) and dyes its own feathers blood red.
