Controlling behavior is gross. Everyone's just out there trying to lead their lives without having to deal with the terrible manipulative tactics that some of the world's more toxic individuals insist on carrying out. It sounds like this guy chose to go down the post-breakup route where he was trying to keep the flames of a relationship that had flickered out alive, by keeping the phone line open for nasty arguments. Yikes, man. With all of that context being covered, it's no big surprise that this woman and her friends found themselves thinking that selling the guy's stuff was the move after the way he chose to handle things. Especially because he got rid of her stuff. If anything, seems like she dodged a real bullet.
