It's completely expected that one comes in, purchases something and then proceeds to use the internet. Technically - "free WiFi" isn't free if you have to purchase something. So, we're honest about it. Google maps shows "paid WiFi" and our website explains it.

Font - Here's the revenge. The wifi went out during a very busy day. Most everyone is a regular customer and was very understanding. Except for K. Now, K was sitting inside for 3 hours without patronizing the business. The moment the wifi went out - she was furious. I've never personally seen her before and l'm there almost every day. Once I announced the wifi was down and I was working on the issue, she came right up to me and demanded to watch me try to fix it, while being generally insulting

Font - This continued for the next 20 minutes. Generally, I let most things slide. Not today satan. I'm not even supposed to be there working behind the counter - l'm covering. Also, I'm the manager. I run the internet here. I also specifically bought a router where I can limit or deny access to any device I choose.

Font - Most people name their computers, and it's pretty easy to guess who is who. Especially if you're using like...a Lenovo. Once the internet came back, guessed her MAC address and permanently blocked her computer from our network. And of course - she freaked. I though, am an idiot base-level employee though..what do I know? Definitely nothing about computers. The end. 4 4.2k 111 ↑, Share

Font - itsgms · 15h I used to work for Starbucks as a manager, and one of our customers (otherwise a genuinely nice guy) used to come in and torrent movies because he didn't want to pay for home internet. Problem was, he left his transfer speeds uncapped and we hadn't upgraded to fibre yet. So I call the tech guys and ask what can be done, tell them whenabouts he came in and asked if they could MAC ban the highest- bandwidth user.

Font - About 15 minutes later he closed up his laptop and left, but kept coming in for his regular coffee. He apparently got a popup saying that he had violated the ToS and had received a 14-day ban from all Starbucks wifis nationwide and a repeat offence would result in a permanent ban. It was nice to be able to process card transactions Yes we had a backup system but it was slow and needed again. to fail once on the primary before it would attempt on the secondary so it slowed EVERYTHING down.
