There's nothing worse than someone who thinks that they are the exception to every rule — especially when that person is your sibling. One Redditor took to the popular moral judgment subreddit r/AmITheAsshole with exactly this type of scenario: OP's brother has a four-year-old child who is apparently the pride of the family since it took OP's brother and his wife so long to have a child. That's great, but when OP sent out wedding invites and affirmed that their wedding would be child-free, the brother started demanding that his son be made an exception to the rule. When OP tried to explain that there would be no exceptions, chaos broke loose — now, their parents won't go to the wedding either. What the heck?
The brother sounds like a piece of work; he, his wife, and possibly the entire family are entirely delusional. It is completely out of expectation to think that you would be the only exception for a child-free invitation. Time for a reality check. If there's one thing for certain it's that weddings bring out the family drama.
