12 Photos From The City Of Cats: Istanbul

Here at ICanHasCheezburger, we want to be wherever the cats are. We've written before about the cat beach in Sardinia, Italy, where a couple run a sanctuary for cats, ensuring that they're spayed or neutered and vaccinated.  We've also written about a man who built a kitty theme park for his 22 rescue cats, turning his home into a cat-friendly paradise full of climbing structures, hideaways, and kitty cubbies. However, in all of this reporting, we've neglected to talk about an interesting hotspot for cats: Istanbul.

The city of Istanbul, Turkey, has such a reputation for being the city of cats, that according to ABC News, people have nicknamed the city "Catstanbul". But you don't have to take our word for it. See for yourself with these gorgeous photos how cats can be spotted all across the city. Take a look:

    Such a beautiful view, and such a beautiful cat! According to the photographer, Mustafa, this cat was photographed in Büyükdere, Sariyer, which is situated along the strait of Istanbul. What a beautiful place to hunt for mice and take a nap!

    This cat is sitting next to a busker, 'helping' him earn some money for his music. We commend you for helping cat, great job! Clearly the cats in Istanbul are an integral part of what makes the city the city.
