Having an emotional breakdown in public is never a fun experience, but it can be even more humiliating when it happens in the workplace. The truth is that sorrow doesn't have a schedule, and it can get pretty awkward when something prompts you to start crying on shift.
The only thing that could make it even worse is how your manager reacts. This was illustrated in a Twitter thread started by @raeking__, as she recounted her boss asking her to look at an email once she was "done crying".
The upsetting tale prompted others to share their own horror stories of supervisors being extremely unhelpful, or even cruel in moments of distress. While some had less sympathy for her, there's no doubt that there is no easier way to create a toxic working environment than failing to relate to your employees.
Sadly, not everyone was on team worker.
Some people are truly heartless.
