Tiger King first got us hooked at the very beginning of quarantine when nobody knew what was coming next, so we all spent or days turning to Netflix for solace. At least we had Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin's big cat war to keep us company during tough times. At this point, it all feels like a distant dream, but the debate about whether or not Carole Baskin fed her husband to her cats was very real within the internet discourse last year. The show brought the most unlikely drama to our screens, not to mention the most hilarious memes that still live on today. This week, the show is back and better than ever for Season 2! We don't about y'all, but we're definitely ready to get cozy with the big cats again for Tiger King Season 2. Here's everything you need to know before the release.
The trailer begins where we left off: with Joe Exotic still in prison, claiming that he's paying the price for the other big cat owners and rotting in jail while they make a profit. When asked about the drama between him and Jim Lowe, Joe referred to it as "very personal" so you already know they're gonna go head-to-head this season.
While Joe Exotic, Tim Stark, Jeff Lowe, Allen Glover, and James Garretson appeared in the trailer, Carole Baskin was notably absent. Perhaps she's busy planning the next man she's going to feed to her cats. Jokes aside, she's made it clear that she's not coming back for another season given how they portrayed her last season.
According to Variety, she filed a lawsuit against Netflix and Royal Goode Productions for continuing to use footage of her and her husband for Season 2 when they only signed appearance release forms for the first documentary. However, Netflix argued that the documents they signed gives them explicit permission to use the footage in later seasons, and therefore, a Florida judge denied her lawsuit.
According to a synopsis obtained from the streamer by Elle, the series will offer new insight into the show's biggest players. "With Joe Exotic behind bars and Carole Baskin closing in on ownership of his disreputable zoo, the Emmy-nominated saga continues its twisted course with Tiger King 2 as newfound revelations emerge on the motivations, backstories, and secrets of America's most notorious big cat owners," the statement said.
"Old enemies and frenemies" will reunite "for another season of murder, mayhem, and madness. Thought you knew the whole story? Just you wait."
Stay tuned, and stay catty!
