Oh, good — a real-life Cinderella story. By that, we mean the beginning with the wicked stepmother. Redditor u/Best_Potential_62 posted to the subreddit r/AmItheAsshole to share this awful story about how their ex-husband's wife forced their daughter to stay home from a party she was invited to and babysit the stepmothers' own four children instead — all while stepmother and ex-husband attended a wedding themselves. Apparently, the stepmother even forced the daughter here to lie and say she didn't want to go to the party, calling a 15-year-old lazy and saying that she didn't deserve to have fun.
This thread received 11,000 upvotes. The commenters have voiced overwhelming support for the mother's decision to stand up for her daughter against the daughter's father and stepmother.
This daughter is fortunate that she has an adult in this situation who is willing to go to bat for her. Even better that it's her mother. To be fair, it sounds like her dad is considering divorcing this wicked stepmother for her cruelty to all five of these children.
This is similar to the girl who told her stepmother that her step-siblings weren't her problem.
