It's crazy how astrophysicists think about the universe all day long, because we're pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. If thinking about other galaxies for more than a minute isn't enough to make your tiny human brain implode, then maximum respect.
Although the secrets of space are often bewildering, they can be pretty goofy at times as well. Take Haumea, a dwarf planet in our galaxy that's further out than Pluto. It has been gaining attention on Twitter lately for its strange orbit, apparently spinning so fast that it looks permanently stretched out. Naturally, this has prompted plenty of jokes and speculation. As it turns out, many people were glad to learn of the weird egg circling us from lightyears away. It makes for a nice distraction from all the things that are happening on Earth, anyway.
