01
Mean Girls (2004)
-
Mean Girls is an obvious girl's night pick. It's quotable, iconic, and somehow still relevant. You and your girls have probably seen it a million times, so it's a great background movie to have on if you mostly just want to yap.
-
02
The House Bunny (2008)
-
The humor in this movie is pretty dated and the epitome of mid-2000s comedy; still, if that's your kind of thing, then this is the best of the best. A word of advice: you have to sort of regress into your teenage brain to fully enjoy it. So, maybe maybe go full stereotypical sleepover vibes if you pick this one: pillow fight, pajama sets, nail-painting, the works.

03
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
-
If you and your girls are riding the ACOTAR wave and can't get enough “enemies to lovers” storylines, this is the movie for y'all. I do warn you, though. If you're accustomed to the introspective, nihilistic Matthew McConaughey of True Detective, you're in for a bit of a surprise from his rom-com era!
-
04
Legally Blonde (2001)
-
The original girlboss movie. It's so cheesy is some ways, but it still somehow holds up and feels empowering despite it all.
-
05
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005)
-
What better movie to watch with your besties than a movie about the power of friendship? If you're a 4-person girl group, you can each claim a character and pretend their interactions are your own.
-
06
The Mummy (1999)
-
What is a campy action-adventure movie doing here? Well, dear reader, The Mummy is just pure fun. It's one of those movies that feels like an excuse to have a bunch of hot people on the screen, exemplifying a very 2000s Hollywood idea that a coherent script is optional when there are pretty people to be watched. And guess what? It works! It's fun! You don't have to pay attention to what's happening; you can chat with your girls and glance at the screen to watch a few seconds of Brendan Fraser in his full himbo glory.
-
07
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)
-
Look, this movie hasn't aged particularly well. If you and your girls like to get into lengthy discussions, this one has a lot of fodder!
-
08
-
Honestly, if you and your friend group are in or nearing your 30s, this film is the way to go. You'll never feel better about being thirty, flirty, and thriving.
-
09
Practical Magic (1998)
-
This is technically a late 90s movie, but it's such a great, witchy girl's night pick that I just had to add it. Watch it on a full moon after doing a tarot reading and cord-cutting spell with the gals.
-
10
Freaky Friday (2003)
-
The best thing about a movie night featuring Freaky Friday is that there's follow through. That is, you can easily plan your next girl's night to be at the movie theaters to catch Freakier Friday.
-
11
Queen of the Da**ed (2002)
-
I just watched this one with my girls, so I can assure you it's an amazing pic. If you were a teenage mall rat with an affinity for Hot Topic, this movie is for you. It's incredibly cheesy and cringey, but all of the leads are hot enough to tip this movie into “so bad it's good” territory.
-
12
Camp Rock (2008)
-
Maybe I just totally fell for the nostalgia after Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas's recent performance at the Jonas Brother's 20th anniversary tour, but jamming out to the iconic songs from Camp Rock seem like an amazing way to spend an evening with your besties.

Okay, I am not actually saying that this Disney Channel Original movie is the way to go for your next girl's night. I'm saying you and your friends should pick the most obscure Disney Channel Original movie to watch – the one that lives rent-free in the fringes of your earliest childhood memories, the one you genuinely thought was a hallucination. For me, that's Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century. For you, it might be Cadet Kelly, Life-Size, or Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior.
-
14
Harry Potter
-
Yes, Harry Potter. If you and your girls are into nostalgic, themed hangouts, this is the best pick. Brew “potions,” play a bunch of different Sorting Hat personality quizzes until you get the Hogwarts House that you want, and feel like a kid at a slumber party again.
-
15
Charlie's Angels (2000)
-
This movie is just girl power fun. It will make you want to take a time machine back to the 2000s, though.
-
16
Jennifer's Body (2009)
-
If you and your girls like just a bit of horror but want to keep it light, there really is no better pick than Jennifer's Body. It's perfect post-breakup and as prep for spooky season.
-
17
The Covenant (2006)
-
I'm going to give it to you straight: this movie is terrible. But it stars four insanely attractive men that do magic. So, what are you waiting for?
-
18
Aquamarine (2006)
-
For a cozy comfort weekend night, put on Aquamarine!
-
19
Twilight (2008)
-
Okay, my actual recommendation when it comes toTwilight is to get it on DVD and watch it with the director and Robert Pattinson's commentary. It is incredibly hilarious, awkward, and endlessly more entertaining than just watching the movie normally. Pattinson's disdain for the movie is painfully palpable.
-
20
Ghost World (2001)
-
This pick is for the weird girls; if you're a fan of dark humor, this classic will have you and your friends in stitches.
