Twitter Thread: Neighbor Has Their Dog Sleep Outside During Winter

Winter is definitely here, and it's so important to keep every member of your household warm this winter, from yourself to your beloved pets! Here at I Can Has Cheezburger we've published some tips about how to keep your pets health and safe this winter, but others have turned to the interwebz for advice on the subject, specifically Reddit and Twitter. When a Twitter user asked if it was safe for her neighbors to have their dog sleep out in the snow overnight in an unheated doghouse, people definitely had some thoughts, both on the side of the neighbor, and against him, and with a lot of pawdorable photos of their own puppers mixed in. 

Before you enjoy this scrumptious content however, we would like to remind all our pawsome readers that however cute these Twitter users pets are, you should always check with your veterinarian if you have any questions or concerns about your pets health, not the interwebz, because every pupper is special and unique in their own way, and also everyone's climate varies.     Hmm, this kind of thing really varies based on the climate of where you live, the breed of dog, and of course the advice that your veterinarian gives you regarding the care of your animal? But as a general rule, it isn't good for dogs to be outside at night in the snow without any kind of heated or closed shelter to keep them warm. Let's see what Twitter says…

However, she has her double-walled insulated igloo, and when it gets really cold she has a heater. If the weather is bad enough that we're heading to the basement, Tilly comes too. @MorgaineCoonCat

    Aww, Tilly definitely is a good girl! Here at I Can Has Cheezburger we looove working dogs, and it's awwdorable to see Tilly all cozied up in her heated igloo. Honestly we would probably pay a lot of money to camp in a heated igloo this winter, sounds pretty fun!

    Font - Ahimsa O @couchfish1 Replying to @LAinRearView Never, ever, ever. As a matter of fact, we kidnapped and adopted out a dog that was treated like that where we live. Authorities were out many times-did nothing. So we stole the poor thing to save its life. I've zero regrets and would do it again without hesitation.

    But others argued that some dogs refuse to go inside and are comfortable under the elements.

    Rectangle - manatee ... @oceaniaearth Replying to @MorgaineCoonCat @ganny_roxx and @LAinRearView we have a cat that adopted us but he HATES it inside, ive never had a cat like that, or dog. It's a real battle when it's cold, u can't just lock them in and go to bed & expect to sleep, lol. We're currently trying heated cat beds and protecting it from the wind.

My Jack Russel doesn't even want to go out to potty when it's cold. My lab laughs in the face of cold wet weather and has been known to ask to go out in the middle of the night & refuse to come in.

A guardian dog by breed, he loved nothing more than sitting on our deck in the winter guarding his humans. He would never go into a pen since that precluded him from doing his job. However, when the weather was bad, we brought him in.

    Hair - WTF. People. Vote. It's not hard! @julie319 Replying to @LAinRearView That's how I ended up with my Rufus. The people behind me had him. Left a 9 pd. puppy in 22° November. I went the next day and asked if I could buy him from them for $100. Handed of the cash for the puppy. Never looked back. right now

Our dog needed a companion so we pressured these people to let us have their pitbull. He was 2 yrs old and he adapted to indoor living overnight--our other dog potty trained him in 24 hrs. Sweetest dog ever.

    Font - Barron_Von_Volts ... @MaskWeara Replying to @LAinRearView bad weather, -- Hard NO. but it also depends on what kind of dog. I had a blue heeler mix dog who preferred to stay out under the sky. It didn't matter to him how hot or cold it was.
