The Prettiest Winter Birbs Photographed By Birdwatchers This Season

Each year from December 14 until January 3, the North American bird watchers participate in the annual Christmas Bird Count Week (so named even though it does seem to be three weeks). This holiday has gone on since 1900, so there's over a hundred years' worth of recorded bird data! We aren't really numbers people over here, but we do love to look at pretty birbs. And luckily, some of the prettiest come out right around this time of year.

Birb enthusiasts across the US and Canada have been getting out not only their bird counting tools, but their cameras! Here are some of the prettiest, fluffiest, roundest birbs of all shapes and sizes photographed this season. Some out in the woods, some right in the city, and some even eating from people's hands! Please enjoy these beautiful winter birbs.

    We're starting off with the absolute icon of the winter bird kingdom, the majestic snowy owl! This fluffy unit manages to be regal and also a little derby at the same time. What's that look on his face? Is he confused or just cold? The world may never know.

    Reddit user Relax_SuperVideo brought some sweet little bois to their yard with a bird feeder. One of them sadly was hopping on one leg due to an injury. Commenters assured them, though, that as long as the bird was energetic and eating, and didn't need to hunt for food thanks to the feeder, then there was nothing to worry about.

    Redditor Plumulonia found a super creative way to get up close and personal with his local birds! He constructed a special hat which is also a bird feeder, to attract hungry birds to eat right in front of his face! By staying perfectly still, he got very special view.
