According to Love Meow, Alexa Elliot, a rescue volunteer of Little Wanderers NYC, has been caring for the community cats in her area for a while. She had been feeding them, providing shelter for them, and getting them spayed/neutered. It is pure luck that it is her home that this kitten found, and thank goodness that he did.

One day, a feral cat showed up with a tiny ginger kitten running around in the backyard. The cat left the kitten on the porch near the food. "The kitten was around six weeks old at that point. He was curious, calm, and not aggressive in any way. He was different than any other feral kitten," Alexa retold.

Every day, the orange tabby came back for food and snacks, scampering around the backyard - playing and enjoying himself. "I began the process of trapping him, and because he is naturally trusting, it only took me a few days."

The kitten was named Spruce, brought inside and placed in a pen so that he could relax and get used to his new surroundings. At first, he was very shy and trying to hide. He had never interacted with humans beforehand. But, all it took was a bit of reassurance and food, and the kitten began to warm up to people.

Alexa cleaned him up with a warm bath and treated his eye for a mild infection. Thankfully, in her hands, Spruce felt comfortable. Then, after several cuddle and petting sessions, the tabby boy truly came out of his shell and started playing up a storm.

He was packed with energy and would unleash it by running around the house and playing with toys. It looked as if he was so happy to have a warm place with comfy bed and all the food he needed at his toebean-tips.

And once he realized how pawsome it was to be held, he became totally obsessed with getting affection from his humans. All it took was a few days, and suddenly, Spruce went from being that shy little outdoor kitten to a cuddly bundle of joy wanting nothing but attention and love.

Of course, being as awwdorable as he was, with a little help from Little Wanderers NYC, Spruce found his new forever home rather quickly. He landed his dream home when a large family came to adopt him just in time for the holidays.

"Only three weeks prior, he was running around, homeless on the Bronx streets, but look at him now! He has found his forever home with so many new best kitty, doggie, and human friends," Little Wanderers NYC shared.

Spruce is getting to spend his very first winter with a loving family. He adores his new furry siblings and loves racing around the house with them. Alexa, being a wonderful person, continues taking care of the community cats even in the harsh weather, keeping them warm with heated cat houses and feeding them every day.
