Like any other new money-making opportunity, the world of Non-Fungible Tokens is filled with morons and scammers. For inspiration, just look at all the completely worthless digital coin options you can sink your money into and never get back. This opportunist took an extra step into the world of imaginary money by trying to convince an artist to give them their work, waving a magic wand over it, and then "giving" some of them back. Pretty neat stuff, dude. Very future.
The artist in question posted to Reddit's r/ChoosingBeggars community to show how this scammer really wanted them to do quite a lot of work, only to get paid in the NFT the scammer wanted help creating in the first place. You see, in the world of NFTs, they're really valuable, because someone said so, or something. It's basically the new version of people trying to exploit labor for "exposure" rather than, you know, money. The thing people need to pay to eat food and live in their home. Neither exposure nor NFTs do that.
For another deluded idiot who was high on their own aura, here's the writer who wanted their book edited for free because they thought it would be the next Twilight.
