Sometimes you mess up and you have to pay the consequences — it's the mature thing to do. This Redditor, u/Ok_Relationship3160, posted to the popular subreddit r/tifu to describe a time when they completely messed up in their work as a mechanic and didn't realize a job was more difficult to solve than they realized; it sounds like they actually made the car's issue worse in the process of their work. The user, who noted that they typically work with older vehicles, recognized that they made this mistake because of relative unfamiliarity with newer vehicles. When they returned the still-damaged car to their customer, they told them to take the car to a different shop and that they would pay for the cost of the repair since they damaged the car further.
$4,138 of repairs later, it looks like this mechanic is holding up their end of the bargain. Good on them for admitting to a mistake. For more ridiculous incidents with cars, check out these morons who shouldn't be allowed to drive.
