It's true that most of the time, we find the animal to adopt. We may find it in a shelter, we may rescue it, we may buy it, but it's always us making the choice. Well, most of the time. Cats… sometimes, cats adopt their humans. Cats domesticated themselves. We shouldn't be surprised. They know what their doing with their adorable little paws and faces and tails and general cuteness. We're weak for them, and when they choose us, we have no choice but to comply.
Such is the story of this tiny little void of a kitten who decided that, you know what, she's had enough with outdoor life, and it was finally time for her to pick her forever home. So, she did. This stray kitten was found sitting on the driveway of a home, completely exhausted, looking like she had trekked a long to get there and get help. She was just skin and bones and rough around the edges, but it seems that she ended up choosing right.

According to Love Meow, the tiny black kitten sat on the driveway until the homeowners noticed her. Precious, a member of the family who saved the kitten shared: "She was underweight and had a congested nose. One of her eyes was almost completely closed by an infection with discharge. We decided to take her in and care for her until she got better."
Their plan was to nurse the kitten, who they named Sweetie) until she got better and healthier and then find her a home. Isn't that how it always starts with foster fails? For the first days, Sweetie was tired and frail, barely having the energy to move around on her own. She would curl up on her human's lap and sleep there, safe and sound.
"I found out that she had an upper respiratory infection. She was very cooperative with us when it came to treating her," Precious explained. "We bought her a dropper and gave her formula that way, and she really liked it." For the following few days, Sweetie had to be syringe-fed and given medical care to be able to thrive in the future.
She stayed near her humans as she continued to heal, insisting on napping on a warm lap or being wrapped cozily in a comfortable blanket. Slowly, her eyes and nose started to clear up, and she began putting on weight and gaining strength.
"Within a few weeks she finally got better. It took her awhile to switch between kitten milk to wet and solid food," Precious added. Finally, Sweetie was able to get up on her own four paws and explore, and her personality shown through instantly. It was time then to finally meet the family cat.
Of course, Sweetie was very curious very quickly, even trying to peek into her pen to greet her. "When she started interacting with Mickey, she picked up some of his habits." Now that she's no longer a stray and has gotten comfortable, Sweetie eats and eats and doesn't know how to stop herself. She'll be a chonk in no time.
But, she keeps playing to her heart's content, full of energy and mischief. "Mickey used to be the one who started the play-fights. Now she does most of the time," Precious added. "Whenever she finishes playing, she'll come to sleep on me and it's comforting."
Not only is Sweetie happy now, but she's bringing immense joy to her new family as well. They simply couldn't let her go. "Our initial plan was to keep her temporarily until she recovered, but we fell in love with her, so now she's part of the family."
Sweetie has truly blossomed into a gorgeous kitty. She and her adopted brother have the most wholesome bond. And she has a family now - all because out of all the houses in the world, she knew to pick this one and wait until they took her in.
