Back in the day, in “society” if you had a tattoo that meant either something very bad or that you were in a traveling “freak” show. It is not the wildly popular act of body art that you see on so many people today. Plus, now tattoos are being more respected for its long history that spans over many different cultures. It's an exciting time for that ink under the skin. However, the age old thought of “if you get a visible tattoo, no one will hire you” is still present in older generations and to be frank, it's annoying. Tradesman Sean Gatz took to TikTok to show off how he is very much employed, self-employed.
Gatz has very bold tattoos throughout his entire body, including his face and hands. They are random designs and “blackout" tattoos, which is when a large section of the body are inked with a solid, opaque covering of black ink. He has this technique of bold tattoo style on his head, arm, and even his ears. So he's not messing around when it comes to his tattoos. However, he is also very much not messing around when it comes to his craftsmanship as a tradesman.
“This is what unemployment looks like? No, this is what self-employment looks like.”
“What a beautiful herringbone pattern, perfectly pitched, no lippage. Wow! Look at that shower drain, I wonder who did the rough-in plumbing? That'd be me.”
“Wow, the house is electric! Is that a smart switch with bluetooth connectability on the exhaust?? Incredible! *gasp* And night mode for shower s3xy time! What is this? Oh! It's the LED dimmable driver for the under mount waterproof soft lighting and two-toned tile?!”
“How are his miters? Not bad! Oh, and don't even get me started on my drywall finishing. Tell, me—where are the seams? Can you find them? No! Because it's clean work.”
“You know we're not skipping out on the fixtures. What does that say? ‘Hansgrohe’ for the duel shower heads.”
“I can look like this, because my work looks like that!”
Tradesmen and tattoo enthusiasts have gathered in the comments to applaud this Gatz. “It’s like the ink has no effect on performance…” one person added sarcastically, stating that it should just be obvious that you shouldn't judge somebody's ability to work because of their personal tattoo choices. They literally do not affect each other.
Also, many people in the comments are pointing out that having many tattoos is like wearing a bank statement for everyone to see. “Do people think body modifications are just free?” People add that they've spent well over thousands of dollars on their tattoos so far, and aren't even half as inked up as Gatz. So all his tattoos are saying is that he makes a good amount of money.
There's a new wave of employees joining the workforce and yes, lots of them will have tattoos.
