It's a rumor as old as time - "cats don't love their humans, they just tolerate you because you give them food." Lies. All of it. Anyone who has ever had cats knows, for a fact, that cats love their humans a lot. It's true that sometimes, it takes some cats longer to get used to their humans, that some cats are more aloof than others for a while, and that trust is something that cats take a while to acquire.
But, when cats finally choose their humans, we know it. We see it in their actions. They may not jump on us the second we come into the house, but they will trust us enough to take a nap on our laps, they will lick our noses because we're too dumb to wash ourselves on our own, and some of them will even trust us enough to leave us with their babies while they nap. Cats love, they just love differently, and these tumblr posts sure as heck prove it.
This is more accurate than people know in our experience. We experience this with our own cats climbing into our beds at night to cuddle, and we have heard our cat-loving audience tell us infinite stories about cats asking for attention and not quieting down until they get it.
The fact that this happened to you not once but twice is a testament to how good you must be to your cats. There is no moment more vulnerable for a cat than when she is having babies, so for them both to choose to do it next to you is kind of incredible. It must have been a magical experience to witness it.
