Redditor, retail worker, and student u/Brooklynisqueerr works for a store that sells kitchen appliances and accessories. It sounds like it might be a department store of some sort. They delivered some awesome malicious compliance at their job.
It all happened one day when u/Brooklynisqueerr went to see their manager to tell them that their shift had finished, so that the manager could organize someone to cover at the checkout. The manager responded, "Could you really not stay for a few more minutes?" and added to that "Next time you need to wait for a manager to let you go home."
Well, that was all u/Brooklynisqueerr needed to hear.
So on her next shift, when it was time for u/Brooklynisqueerr to go home, they just... Didn't. They waited, as asked, for their manager to tell them to leave.
Sure enough. A few hours later... The manager realized that u/Brooklynisqueerr was still there.
