Woman Lashes Out At Husband For Having A Picture Of Her Son From First Marriage As His Screensaver

Nobody out there loves their kids as much as we do. To other people, kids are just kids. They might be cute kids, but they're still just kids. To us, our kids are the whole world. We find everything they do endearing, even when they're being annoying because they're our own kids. In our eyes, they could do no wrong. Meanwhile, other people are generally like 'alright, they're cute kids' but they're not my kids, so we're not head over heels for them.' And that's okay. We don't expect people to be as obsessed with their kids as we are. In rare cases, people we're close with are just as obsessed with our kids. In today's 'Am I The A$$hole?' post, OP talked about the sweet relationship between her second husband and her son from her first marriage. While she appreciates their relationship, she was alarmed when she saw that her husband had a photo of her son as his screensaver because of the safety issues she believes it presents. Lady, sorry to inform you, but nobody cares about a random kid on someone's screensaver. It's not like he posted pictures of her son on social media without her permission. She should just be grateful for the special relationship they share.

    We're happy to hear that OP's marriage is going well thus far. Like we said, parents are usually the ones who are most passionate about their kids. The fact that OP's husband has been bonding with her son is a really green flag, not that she needs any red/green flags because she decided to marry him. Sometimes childrens' relationships with new step-parents can be rocky, so it's nice to see a healthy relationship between stepdad and son. Ala, OP might have created some tension in the relationship by questioning why he has a screensaver of her son on his phone.

    Font - unlocked the screen and saw my son's pic set as the homescreen wallpaper. I asked my husband how long it's been there and he said 2 months. I got upset and pointed out that it was not wise of him to use a pic of my son as his homescreen wallpaper for strangers to see.

    We don't understand how OP views the screensaver as an unwise decision. He's just expressing his love for her son, which she should be grateful for. Not everyone gets along when it comes to new family dynamics, so it's actually really sweet that OP's husband has her son as her screensaver because it shows how much he cares about him. It's true that parents are very serious about their children's safety, but we don't see how her child's safety is being threatened by being featured on a screensaver. It's not like people care about a random child on someone's screensaver.

He loves and adores your son which is exactly what you should want from a man who is going to live in your house and be a crucial part of his life as he grows.

It seems she wants to be the nucleus of the family, and her husband bonding with her son and taking initiative will derail that plan.
