Let's start with the background. OP works in a daycare. She works in the 1-2 year old room. Naturally, nappies (diapers) need to be changed every day and constantly around the clock. OP is responsible for watching over 10 kids a day. She needs to change them every 3 hours. Sometimes even more than that. She works in this room with her 'lovely coworker Bethany' who is a few years older than her. Bethany is also 6 months pregnant. Bethany isn't planning on going on her maternity leave for another 2 months. The problem is, because of her pregnancy, she has had a lot of problems picking up the children, bending down to do jobs and changing nappies. She struggles with lifting the children up to the changing mat and becomes nauseous when changing them. It's gotten to the point where she has their supervisor if she could be exempt from nappies for the next two months. Their "solution" was for OP to cover her nappy shifts until she goes on maternity leave and the cover arrives. OP is now expected to do all the nappies (upwards of 30 a day). When OP heard that this was the plan, she was upset and voiced her displeasure to their supervisor who asked her to 'just put up it.' Well OP refused. Now, Bethany has to pull her wait and she is furious with OP Help the moral judges of Reddit to decide who is the real a$$hole here.
At first read of this headline, our eyebrows are raised. When in doubt, you should always help a coworker, especially a pregnant coworker. But this situation is a little smelly... pun intended.
