Is it just us, or are Karens getting bolder and more entitled by the day? On today's episode of 'Karen is an entitled no good rotten a-hole,' we have a classic nightmare in law story. This delightfully horrifying thread features OP, her husband, and her nightmare of a Mother in law. For some context, this bunch already is not known for getting along well. OP is very upfront and clear that she and her mother-in-law have conflicting personalities and have never gotten along well, her husband has also chosen to distance himself from his mother.
Now comes the juicy part. Karen/OP's MIL has PTSD that has recently presented itself in her behavior, but her emotional support animals help her cope. OP kindly offered that her Karen MIL, bring one of her emotional support animals with her when visiting OP and her husband, so that she feels more comfortable, even though OP is really not a fan of animals or mess. How nice and thoughtful! And what does Karen do in response to this? She brings over a flipping goat….to OP's house. We must say here with almost 100% certainly, this crazy Karen nightmare-in-law knew good and well that OP would not approve of this, and that this is a total act of manipulation. When will the Karens of this world finally realize that the world does not revolve around them, WHEN?
NOPE.
"My MIL has never liked me and we have real clashing personalities. My husband does have a spine and he does stand up for me but we've come to realize that he does need her in his life, so all three of us have come up with some compromises and boundaries."
It sounds like OP and her husband are used to Karen's entitled and erratic behavior, which certainly does not excuse it, but definitely important for context.
"She is very co dependent and has a hard time being around us without her husband, so I made a rule that she can bring one of her comfort animals. Honestly I'm a neat freak and not a huge animal person, but MIL can emotionally regulate better and resist the urge to bully me if she has a pet."
First of all, this is an extremely kind and considerate move on OP's part. Especially considering that Karen/Nightmare in law seems to have done nothing to deserve it. OP is willing to open up her home to both a bully and the bully's pet, despite being a neat freak and not liking animals, just to accommodate Karen's needs. And what does Karen do in response?
"Well MIL came over the other day and brought a f*cking goat. I didn't open the door for her or I would have stopped her but she led this goat through my house. She had a sh*t eating grin."
She brings a flipping goat. Look, we love goats, we are hugeee goat fans, but OP is clearly not and Karen KNEW THAT. There is a 0% chance that Karen did not foresee this becoming a huge issue and causing chaos. 0%
CLAP BACK OP.
