Hi friends! Today we wanted to share how inspired we were today after seeing pictures from Ernesto's Cat Sacntuary. Syria has been through a lot, in fact we remember doing a piece about a man rescuing injured cats from the rubble in Aleppo during the height of the conflict. What a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved! According to the website for Ernesto's cat sanctuary, "At Ernestos cat sanctuary we have over 1350 cats of all sizes, all shapes, all colours. All of them are survivors and all of them have their own story. Abandoned when their owners fled from the bombing or born onto the streets of deserted and ruined towns where survival is almost impossible."
"We also have a sanctuary for farm animals. Winsons farm is home to 24 dogs, 4 donkeys, 3 horses, 7 goats, 10 chickens, 2 geese, 1 duck, 5 monkeys, 2 peacocks, 3 sheep, 3 horses and 4 doves. All rescued from bad situations." We hope you feel touched by the thousands of cats this sanctuary has saved, and if you would like to donate to Ernesto's sanctuary, you can support them through their paypal linked on their Facebook page.
More than 1,000 cats enjoy living in a sanctuary for strays affected by war in Syria's northwest. The cats were injured or abandoned by their owners during the seemingly never ending conflict in the country. Syrian Alaa al-Jaleel, who chose to remain in Aleppo during the war to take care of abandoned cats, had around 100 at the time and took them along after he evacuated to Idlib with the rest of the population of Aleppo in 2016.
