Teen Gets In Trouble For Filming An Honest Representation Of The Local Neighborhood

In the grand scheme of things, what happens in high school isn't the biggest deal in the world. However, we will admit that a lot of what we did in high school shaped who we are as people onward. We may not be the same people we were in high school, but there's definitely a little remnant of our high school selves within us. In today's 'Am I the A$$hole?' post, OP told us about a presentation in Spanish class that authorities in the school reacted to unexpectedly. The assignment was to simply film the local neighborhood in action while listing all the things we see in Spanish, hence the reason it was an assignment for Spanish class. Unfortunately, OP's neighborhood isn't as picture-perfect as the teacher would have liked it to be. Coincidentally, OP captured some questionable behavior of the locals in the video, and the teacher wasn't happy that it was shown to the class. Scroll down for all the dramatic details.

    Font - Someone drives by and catcalls me profanely. As a joke I yell back "ESTUPIDO PERRO" which means "stupid dog" then he slammed his brakes and yelled something racist before speeding off. I said to the camera "This man is very stupid. He is a man but acts like a dog."

    Font - I cut out the long sequences of me walking. But I left everything else. My teacher had a rubric of the types of descriptions and numbers of things you needed and taking any out would lose me points. It was too dark out to film more.

    Font - One of my friends from class recognized the racist guy as someone who volunteers with the middle school soccer team. So she texted me like "haha should I say something?" and I said sure, so she posted in Spanish "In the car is Mr. Jones who coaches the children. I learned from your video that he hates women and is racist."

The coach who stopped his car to yell racist things had full control of his abilities and chose to do that in public. Your video is a sad but accurate portrayal of your neighborhood and satisfies EXACTLY what the assignment was for. Your teacher has no right to be mad at you.

    Font - DazzlingAssistant342 · 15 hr. ago Partassipant [1]] NGL, this is probably going to go badly, just because it sounds like your teacher would rather sweep the problems under the rug than do the work of facing the uncomfortable truths these videos show. 100% NTA but you do need to decide how much trouble you're willing to stomach for this moral hill. In an ideal world, every injustice would be met with rebellion but in reality you need to decide if a particular fight is worth the cost. Don't
