It's gratifying a lot of times because the senior pets feel it. They have been through a lot, they have lived their lives, a lot of times, they have been through things that are traumatizing. So they are grateful to you, because they know, they understand, that they are being given something valuable.

This is what we mean by "traumatizing". This kind of life cannot be easy for any pet - moving from shelter to shelter, encountering new things everywhere, never getting to settle and calm down. Taking thee pets in is a beautiful thing, and we can only hope that seeing stories like the ones in this collection will make more people want to do that.
