"A story about Metric the Footless Lizard. This is Metric. He was born without feet."
via CorvusTheCrowThe second we laid our eyes on Metric, we fell for him. We did not even notice the lack of feets in the beginning. Our brains just saw "tiny lizard sitting on a human's hand" and thought "oh my god, adorable, we can already see why this little guy went viral". We're weak for tiny itty bitty animals like that.

"(Aside from a few toes)"
via CorvusTheCrowAnd then, we realized he was footless, and somehow, he became even cuter in our eyes. We wonder what caused him to be born this way, but hey, so long as he's happy, healthy, loved and taken care of, we think that his lack of feets is only something to celebrate as unique and adorable.

"Now, this isn't a problem for him. He gets around well on grippy surfaces and has no other health problems."

"And yet, I've had multiple people suggest cutting off a leg or few to see if they'll grow back 'correctly'."

"Firstly, lizards cannot grow back their legs. Only their tails (and not all lizard species can do even that.)"

"Secondly, they never developed in the first place, there's nothing to grow 'back'. This is everything he has."

"People sometimes baffle me a little. Both people who suggested this insisted that I was wrong about lizard limb regeneration."

"Anyway, that's my Metric story for the evening."

"Metric is tired of people and their nonsense. He would like to eat a bug please now."

"Give it up for Metric, who shed all his old skin successfully! This is the first time he's shed in my care so I'm very proud of him"

"I suppose not having most of his toes means he can't get stuck shed on them, which is nice I guess"

"Metric is now learning to be ok with being held. He's wiggly to catch, but once he's on my hand he'll calm down long enough for me to hold him for a few minutes. He'll get better with it as he gets older."
