One thing that we love about the internet animal community is that they always put as much shine as possible on animals who are different. Being unique is something that is celebrated in our community - whether the animal is born different or whether something happened to it. So long as it has a happy home and is taken care of, we are happy to see the uniqueness. Like when the internet celebrated the cat who was born with two noses, or when the incredible story of a morphed axolotl went viral, or when the internet fell in love with Zeus - the blind owl who has galaxies in his eyes.

Today, we are looking at another incredibly unique animal - a footless lizard named Metric. Metric is tiny, he was born a little different, and he loves in a loving, wholesome home. Honestly, that's pretty much a recipe for going viral on the internet, and we support it. So, gather 'round, everyone, and read Metric's story.

The second we laid our eyes on Metric, we fell for him. We did not even notice the lack of feets in the beginning. Our brains just saw "tiny lizard sitting on a human's hand" and thought "oh my god, adorable, we can already see why this little guy went viral". We're weak for tiny itty bitty animals like that.

And then, we realized he was footless, and somehow, he became even cuter in our eyes. We wonder what caused him to be born this way, but hey, so long as he's happy, healthy, loved and taken care of, we think that his lack of feets is only something to celebrate as unique and adorable.

"Metric is now learning to be ok with being held. He's wiggly to catch, but once he's on my hand he'll calm down long enough for me to hold him for a few minutes. He'll get better with it as he gets older."
