Ever see a logo that looks incredibly inappropriate and makes you wonder "Did they mean to do that?" These questionable designs come to mind. When the logo is for a chicken restaurant, or even a urologist, we can enjoy a light chuckle and move on with it. But when, say, a logo resembles a phallus, and is promoting a business or initiative that is specifically geared towards women, it's going to cause something of hilarious uproar.
This situation is exactly what happened yesterday when the Australian Prime Minister's Department released the new logo for ‘The Women’s Network,' a volunteer-based organization in the department. The logo, which seems intentionally phallic, went viral nearly immediately - and caused quite a bit of uproar on Twitter. Here, designer @george_llevi calls it the worst logo he's ever seen.
Thanks to the understandable backlash, the logo was quickly removed by the department. We could report on all of the people clutching their pearls at the event, but come on. Who wants to see that? Instead, we're going to focus on what the people want: humor. And the thread inspired a lot of it. While some responses to the purple cock and balls were clever on their own, we were happy to see that on @george_llevi's thread, people were inspired to share other similarly lewd-looking logos. Some of which might even rival the short-lived Women's Network design.
