Couple goes on a mission to save a momma cat and her 3 kittens from under their house, decides to foster them for a while but falls in love, adopting the entire litter

Our theory at the moment is that while the cat distribution system is very accurate in the humans that it attributes cats to, sometimes, its aim is not quite… purrfect. Sometimes, the cats spawn in weird locations. Of course, they always end up in the arms of their chosen human, but it does require said humans and cats to go through quite an adventure together. Like, when the CDS caused a cat to fall through a window into the arms of its forever human, or when the CDS accidentally dropped a cat inside of a person's chimney, or when the CDS accidentally spawned a cat inside of a wall. 

And today, a couple had to go on an adventure to rescue a cat mom and her three kittens from underneath said couple's house. Yeah, they had to go crawling in the crawlspace. Of course, the adventure, as always, was a success. The cats were captured, the kittens were adopted, and we were left with only one thing to say - someone tell the transportation secretary at the CDS to improve the aim of the system.

    My husband and I heard the unmistakeable tiny mews of a kitten while on our deck in the evening in late June. The next day I was able to locate where it was coming from in our crawlspace.

    Since it was dead ass in the middle of kitten season and there was really no where to send the mom and the litter I convinced my husband to let me foster them. So a couple days later we both crawled under the house and had to search because she moved them. She bolted right into our trap which was over the only exit and I yoinked three tiny kittens, just barely able to walk.

    We set up an enclosure in my climate controlled shed beforehand, so they all went in there, but unfortunately, the Mom was extremely angry and ended up, biting me in the process. I then spent the next five weeks attempting to socialize the mom and kittens. We never got through to the Mom so we eventually did a spay and release in conjunction with my local shelter.

    At first, we were not going to keep any of the kittens, but our son has been asking for one for the last several years so we took it as a sign and decided to keep one. One became to, and if you're gonna keep two well, you might as well just keep all three.

    So that's what we did. We have Storm the little gray tabby, Pancake is the color point. And Stirling. Mallory Archer is our tuxedo. We also named the mom cat Mallory while we had her. IYKYK

    They are wonderful little cats now. Each with their own quirks and distinct personalities. We love them so much. Anyways if you made it this far thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the pics.

  • Ah yes, the infamous story of the “husband who did not want a cat crawling under his house to help his wife save said cat”. Happens far more often than you would think. It's always the people who don't want or don't like cats doing the most for them, isn't it? And we live for it. It's the power of cats.

  • We can only imagine what this man is like with these cats now. The most loving human in the world, and most likely completely in denial about how much he loves them. It's great to read about each and every time that we do.

    Wubbalubbadubbitydo OP Unfortunately mom hasn't been seen since. She never warmed up even in the slightest even when at the shelter. I used to teach cat and dog handling so it's actually incredibly rare for me to have such a fractious cat.

    Wubbalubbadubbitydo OP I used to work at the shelter that did it so I have seen first hand what happens when you don't. Releasing her intact just wasn't an option.
