Just like you'd have a pet name for your significant other to demonstrate your love and affection, you do the same for your significant furry little friend. While your cat probably knows its name, you should already know by now that they don't always respond. Compared to dogs, cats are the more mysterious creature. With dogs it's easy. Play. Eat. Woof. Done. But cats are different. They're aware that you're calling for them, but will they answer? Will it be beneficial for them? Now that's the mystery which we, mortals, will never know. It's a cat's world, and we just live in it.
