Daddy Dog Treats: Amusing Subreddit Stories Of People Eating Dog Food

Hello, animal lovers! Our love and affection for our furry friends is valid and justified. But our reverence toward their food? Well, believe it or not, that's justifiable too. 

For today's dose of animal discussions, we present to you a subreddit where u/MixNo2769 tells the story of how their dad has been eating dog treats for 20 years. The replies under the subreddit and the story itself validate quite a few people. But just how many? And why? Our guess is it depends on the level of yumminess of the treat. But we do have to remember that dogs and animals, in general, have completely different metabolisms and immunity than us, the regular folk. So while some may have similar funny stories to share from their past, there are just as many people who have had negative experiences with tasting dog food. So the moral of the story is to always check the ingredients on products going inside your body and your dogs. Stay safe!

    Font - I have been laughing about this for hours now! So my dad was speaking about the increase in petrol prices and this led him on to talking about the corner shop he visits on a weekly basis for a packet of biscuits. (Stay with me - it gets better)

    Font - He has been going to his shop for about 20 years (so basically my whole life) to get these biscuits. He said they're his favourite and they're the only shop he can find them in. He says he has looks in Tesco, Morrisons and Salisbury's biscuits sections but he can't find them.

    Man, poor dad! You can just tell how much those cookies mean to him. Just picture him driving from one place to another, on the chase to hunt those cookies down. So motivated and determined, he even checked Salisbury's biscuits section. And nada. We feel for you! Limited access to snacks - sucks.

    Font - Anyway, a few days after this conversation, he brought home a packet for me because he wanted to show me just how good they are. I looked at them and just burst out laughing. I'm still laughing now. Clear as day on the packet, dog treats. He has been eating dog treats for 20 years! I honestly can't believe it! He said he thought they were off- brand Digestives or something because they're round and not 'bone shaped'.

    Font - He couldn't believe it. I had to ring up my sister to tell her what dad had been doing. I asked him if he is going to carry out buying and eating them and he said he is undecided. This was about a week ago now so he went to fill up with petrol today. He text me saying they just don't taste the same now he knows they're for dogs!

    Ouch, the disappointment! And he was so excited for them, what a shame. But hey, at least now y'all have a hilarious story to tell at every party you go to. But nothing will beat the heartbreak dad will feel when he passes that corner shop and sees those cookies through the windows…

Decided to munch on a cereal bar lying on the side and act nonchalant. My grandparents knew he was drunk. That cereal bar was a hamster treat

    Font - freyalorelei · 4 days ago I've owned hamsters my whole life, and those small animal yogurt drops are identical to the ones you can buy as human snacks, just packaged for rodents and sold at a marked-up price. My favorite flavor is the strawberry, although the cheese drops are better than you'd think.

    Font - punktali · 3 days ago I've owned hamsters my whole life - is different than - I work at a manufacturer of the place that makes these bars - that has a whole lot more weight to the story than just owning hamsters. Cleaning practices and standards of ingredients are different in human consumption treats vs animal.

    Font - Isotropic_Awareness · 3 days ago Dog food has been known to have salmonella sometimes. Since dogs aren't affected by foodborne illness the same way humans are it doesn't necessarily affect them. I always wash my hands after handling dog food/treats, just to be safe.

Reminds me of the time an elderly relative found Charlee Bear treats in a jar on the counter, mistook them for oyster crackers, and sprinkled them on his clam chowder. Since it was a onetime thing, we opted to keep quiet and stop leaving those treats there.

I mean it started with some that looked like yummy frosted cookies, and I kind of understand that.. he just wanted to know if they taste as good as they look.. but he said they weren't bad, and now sometimes he tries the really good smelling meaty ones too. Lol I used to love the look on customers faces when they say the treat bar treats looked good and we'd tell them to try one.
