The thread was posted by the employee, Redditor u/-perchance, to the sub with the title “I got a $0.25 raise this year which absolutely is not keeping pace with inflation. [T]hen I get to walk into work and] see the owner's new toy.” This shed some light on the situation and gave immediate context to the posted photo. r/antiwork is a Reddit community that often deals with employment stories and concerns as they are raised by contributors. It's common to see threads, such as this one, where employers are called out for poor behavior.

“Have you thought about talking with your coworkers and demanding a much more significant raise as a group?” one commenter asked. “Doing it together puts a lot more pressure on them. Also, that's so brazen to show up with the car like that. It shows a real lack of respect for you that they don't even have to try to hide the wealth you're making for them."

“Unfortunately, we are all so easily replaceable...” the original poster replied. “Makes me feel powerless and like the only thing I can do is to go elsewhere for employment.”
